How many times have you heard someone say, I believe this or I believe that, but their life doesn’t demonstrate what they said they believed.
Have you ever wondered why that was?
Maybe your first thought was that the person wasn’t telling the truth, or maybe they were lazy.
I’ve had this conversation several times with myself about myself. I didn’t understand why what I said I wanted wasn’t happening. I had great intentions. Being a natural planner and organizer, I developed strategies, vision boards, projections, I’ve food prepped, bought equipment, and done everything I thought I needed to succeed and make the changes that “I Believed” that I wanted, happen.
After many failed attempts and denigrating myself for not accomplishing my goals
Feeling bad about myself, then thinking negative thoughts about my inability to change what I wanted. I asked God to help me understand what was happening.
Then my journey to learn what belief is, began.
I’m going to tell you what I learned, and I hope that you listen and hear and me.
It’s not necessary for you to continue to bust your head on the concrete of life.
You can learn from my many failures. You don’t have to make the same ones I did. Unless you’re rebellious, and you only believe what you experience.
I want to highlight 4 Truths about Belief that no one taught me.
Not my parents, family, friends, or the many teachers I received knowledge from.
The working definition that I will use is this:
- Belief is the material of the things you are expecting.
- Everything that you can touch, taste, feel, and hear started out as a belief.
- Belief is like denim, like concrete, like a cell phone, like a wonderful marriage.
- It’s the material that everything is created from
- Belief is spiritual – it’s not something that you can put your hand on
- Belief happens in your spirit and your soul.
- An oversimplified definition – your spirit is the energy that animates your life – it’s who you really are
- Your soul is your mind, will, and emotions, and they’re housed in the brain and use your brain to control your body.
- Belief happens in your spirit and your soul.
- Everything that you can touch, taste, feel, and hear started out as a belief.
- The 1st truth I want to share with you is that – Belief only happens in the present tense.
- You can’t get past belief, and it doesn’t exist in the future.
- You can’t reach back to yesterday and have faith because that time has passed, and without a time machine, you can’t go backward in time.
- When you reach your future, it will be now, not the future.
- So belief is always NOW.
- The lifespan of belief is 2-5 seconds, that’s it – it’s NOW.
- This is important because you must be aware that you are always creating a belief because it’s happening in the present now.
- You can’t reach back to yesterday and have faith because that time has passed, and without a time machine, you can’t go backward in time.
- You can’t get past belief, and it doesn’t exist in the future.
- Another important Truth about Belief
- Is that It’s the foundation of what you are expecting
- Everything that you do to achieve what you’re believing for stands on top of your belief.
- This is a major concept to understand.
- Think about the foundation of a house
- If you build the wrong foundation
- Maybe it’s not large enough
- Or it’s not strong enough
- When you start to build the house, and then you furnish the house, the foundation will begin to buckle, and it will crack because it’s not large enough or strong enough to handle the load that’s built on top of it.
- Is that It’s the foundation of what you are expecting
- The 3rd truth I want to share with you is
- Belief isn’t something that you see with your physical eyes. Belief is only seen with your spiritual eyes – the reason for this is because
- When you’re able to see what you’re believing for with your natural eyes, it’s no longer belief.
- It’s manifestation
- The final truth is that
- Belief isn’t enough –
- Belief MUST be accompanied by work
- It usually requires a GREAT deal of work
- Not a little dab, but a lot of work and a lot of challenges will also accompany that work.
- Many people fall short in the challenges area – they think that because you have belief, what you are working towards will just drop out of the sky.
- Nope – that is not the truth at all.
- Challenge arises, and instead of finding solutions, they throw their hands up in the air and say things like
- It’s too hard
- I guess it wasn’t meant to be
- This person doesn’t like me.
- And if they believe in God, they might get upset with Him because He didn’t act like a genie and nod His head and magically make their belief materialize.
- Belief isn’t enough –
So let me recap – Belief is all about what you’re ready and willing to do.
- The way to materialize your beliefs are to
- Keep seeing what you want NOW – 2-5 seconds
- visualize it, meditate on it, – see the full completion of what you want in your mind
- make sure that your belief is big enough and strong enough to uphold what you want to achieve
-
- Don’t build that Rolls Royce expectation on a skateboard foundation
-
- Prepare to face and overcome every challenge and obstacle that will come your way.
-
- Remember the challenges and the obstacles are coming. It’s not if, but when
-
Belief makes your goals possible, not easy.
I know you can do this.
But you have to Believe you can. –
Get to work. Your good life is waiting for you.
