Congratulations you’re a very brave person.
With a title talking about being lazy and now you are listening to it, it means that you are open to change. Even if you told yourself that you are listening because the title was interesting.
It shows that you are willing to side-step the superficial chitchat that may get in the way of taking accountability for your life and take a real look at yourself.
Let’s get to work.
So Lazy is defined as – unwilling to work or use energy, idle, slothful, shiftless, loafing.
Basically it’s a lack of effort.
Stay with me; I know your emotions may be starting to get hot.
I’m not saying that you are slothful or shiftless, that’s how the dictionary defines lazy.
I’m making sure we are talking about the same thing.
We have to know what’s happening before we can address it.
Hold on before you get offended and stop listening. I’m not saying you are lazy in every area of your life.
I’m suggesting that you might be lazy in the areas of your life that will get you the most bang for your buck.
Get you to where you want to be in the area that you keep putting off, because it’s too hard, you don’t have enough time, you don’t have any money; you’re not smart enough; you’re not smart enough’ someone is already doing it.
You have time for everything else and everyone else that asks you to do something for them.
If you have a job and your boss says you have to stay and work late, you find the time, even though you committed to something else or you simply wanted to do something else.
When friends or family ask you to make them something, drive them somewhere, buy them something, spend time with them, you figure it out.
But when it comes time to do that thing that’s been on your New Year’s resolution list for the last five to ten years, you come up with excuses – oh, excuse me reasons, why it’s not done.
Okay, let’s look at this for a moment.
I like numbers and logic so I put things down on paper to analyze and make sure that what’s going on in my head, is what’s really happening.
If I’m going to lie to myself, I want to make the conscious decision to believe an untruth, or better yet, say, “Hey, I just don’t want to do that right now, or maybe I changed my mind and I don’t want to do it at all.”
Laziness is considered a habit or a belief system, or frame of mind, or a stronghold
Let’s look at some common symptoms of laziness:
• 1st Most Common Symptom – Maybe the result of a lack of confidence in yourself or a particular area in your life
• 2nd Most Common Symptom – Unwillingness to forgo immediate pleasure to achieve a long term goal
• 3rd Most Common Symptom – Lack of positive recognition from others
Depending on what you are being lazy about, some of the results of laziness could be:
• Chronic health problems
• Emotional or Mental Concerns
• Financial Issues
I’ve briefly touched on this issue to get you stirred up.
My objective is to get you to practice your self-awareness muscle – a key tool in personal development. I’m intentionally not going to give you solutions to this issue.
I’d like you to objectively think about it. Don’t pass any further judgments on yourself or go into an emotional spiral.
If you after thinking about what we’ve talked about and you decide you are not lazy, then cool – nothing for you in this area
If you after thinking about what we’ve talked about and you decide you are lazy, in some area of your life, cool as well. You know have great intel, you can decide to act on it or not.
Either way. You are a Rockstar! You stayed and listened to some hard words, you made it through to the end, you didn’t die, you didn’t get offended, or if you did get offended, you shook it off.
You have just proven to yourself – the only one that matters, that you can do hard things.
Congratulations! This proves you can change whatever is in those dim areas of your life if you want to.
Look at you, all Self Aware and Stuff.
